I want to build a city in Minecraft with all the trimmings and tips
For what you want. Nobody can tell you what you can or shouldn't do. Minecraft is the game of creativity.
I would build a medieval city. It usually looks better than a modern city. (If you can build really well, a modern city looks great too!) I'm just starting out from a medieval city here.
First of all, I would make an approximate city map, as it has happened to me many times that I have forgotten buildings. It is best if no dimensions are specified, because that limits a lot in the end.
Ideas for buildings are:
-Church: as central and large as possible (in a rich city)
-Schools)
-Houses: should be poor & rich, the workplaces were usually in the building, rather small
-central marketplace: with market stalls
- City wall with city gates
-Doctor or what they called a doctor
- …
Build not too small if possible, but not too big either. The city shouldn't consist of just a few materials. It also depends on the region, for example, including rivers and seas in the city. If possible, do not build square (it is a bit difficult, but feasible). The buildings should rather be divided into small parts and not be huge blocks in the landscape. Texture packs and shaders make everything a little more beautiful. You should also look for inspiration, e.g. On YouTube, Google image search or in real life. Do not just search for Minecraft on YouTube and Google, because that can mean that you no longer live out your creativity yourself, but (only) dismantle it. I think creativity is the most important point, because otherwise such a project is also useless and is little or no fun.
A plan would be helpful to keep you on top of things.
You should build an infrastructure at the beginning to get from A to B quickly
A logistics system to neatly store your resources
A few mods to relieve you of some things such as computer mod.
