How to build armor rack conveyor belt in Minecraft?

I need something to move an armor stand one block above the ground in any direction. If possible, the armor stand should realign itself at the corners

It has to work with commands, e.g. Like this design with the glazed terracotta, for which I unfortunately can't find a 1.16-compatible version.
