Both versions are separate from each other.
Windows 10 and Java are 2 different games. The Windows 10 version is the Bedrock version that also runs on consoles. For a while, Java players like me were able to get Windows 10 for free. For this reason, many Java players have the Windows 10 version that they never installed.
But this is no longer the case either. Yes, you have to buy them separately.
