Minecraft server programming for everyone?

Hi, even though it gets harder to program a minecraft server so I decided to program it because I see it as a small challenge. Now my question is what do I need for that I program my own minecraft server to gamble with people who are not in the same network

Gu

Even if you get the software programmed (which I strongly doubt), you still need a server anyway.

Sw

I'm not sure if you really want to program a minecraft server. Do you possibly rent a vserver or rootserver and then set up this yourself?

Do

And how does it work?

fo

The server, but can also be your PC at home. Then only need to release the port in the router, then you say all your public IP (NOT!) And the released port. But you do not do that, because it is unsafe af.

Do

Yes, I thought so synonymous and how is it with the ip that people can gamble on it

Do

Yes that one can stop playing with friends without admitting the own ip freely

fo

You run your Minecraft server on your public IP with the port open? Is not that self-evident if you develop your "server" completely yourself?

Do

I'm still new and just informing me how is this exactly what I have to hire

Sw

This has relatively little to do with programming. You do not have to do much more than rent the server. Then install java and download the server files from minecraft. A firewall could not do any harm, but if you're just playing with friends, security will not be so important.

even easier would be the whole with a gameserver but normally costs a bit more.

Do

And how does it work for free

Sw

Renting a server always costs something if you want halfway decent performace. Free vserver or rootserver, I do not know. Alternos offers free gameserver for minecraft but the performance is not that good.

and without renting a server you can only host a maximum of yourself but there you will have to reveal your own ip.

Do

I do not want to do that but he is 24/7 online only when I need him do you mean that 24/7 is online or what do you mean

Sw

The rented server is actually always online, does not make much sense to stop because you always the rent remains the same no matter how much the server is running. The minecraftserever is also running on this, but you can always turn it off again. If you know alteros: the gameserver will switch off as soon as nobody else is on the server and you have to start it manually again and again. If you want something like that (maybe with a webinterface too), you have to program already. But this is not really worth it unless you just want to try something out and learn something.
