Minecraft server crash when Ip specified?

If I write in the server properties my ip address and start the server, the console is closed immediately and in the server log is the error message:

[19:04:34] [Server thread / WARN]: FAILED TO BIND TO PORT!
[19:04:34] [Server thread / WARN]: The exception was: java.net.BindException: Can't assign requested address: bind
[19:04:34] [Server thread / WARN]: Perhaps a server is already running on that port?

What could that be? I do not actually have any other servers running. Hope you can help me.

If you specify the IP 0.0.0.0 so the server does not matter from which of the network cards the inquiries come, you must give only an IP if you have several.

Why are you even giving an IP?

Are you sure that you have specified the correct IP address?

Or maybe another program is still running on the port of the server?

Va

I'm giving an ip because I want to allow friends to access the server through a Hamachi network.

Yes, it is the right ip.

That's what I thought too. But what programs could use the server port? Apart from the fact that I can't remember to have something installed in the direction.

Have you already tried without IP address to use Hamachi?

Are you using IPv4 or IPv6? - For IPv6 you should write the address in [].

Do you find any other Java applications in the Task Manager?

Va

That would not make sense. If I do not enter the ip, no other people can connect to the server…

Ipv4 address

No, nothing that I have discovered.

Co

From experience I speak when I tell you that I have never registered an IP for my MC server. Since MC then uses standard according to 0.0.0.0 which stands for all network cards.

Since I'm not in your Hamachi network, you could tell me the registered IP. I hope it does not start with 10.x.x.x or 172.x.x.x or 192.168.x.x

This could contribute to problem solving.

You should also leave the entry blank.

You only need that if you use the wretched Hamachi, which otherwise causes enough mistakes, because you all do not know what you can do with it…

Va

Really, I've always done it that way 8 years ago. So you just can't enter ip address and Hamachi start and then everyone (in the same network) purely?

I hope it does not start with 10.x.x.x or 172.x.x.x or 192.168.x.x

Um, and if it were so?

Va

And how else can I leave other people on the server?

Co

I correct that it can be 10.x.x.x or 172.x.x.x or 192.168.x.x, but only certain areas.

Co

So yes that should work then you get out of your LAN and the Hamachi on the server.

I've already corrected that with the IPs because it depends on the detail of how it looks.

Va

OK.

Co

But the Hamachi IP should start with 25.x.x.x.

"Every Hamachi client has one virtual IPv4 (IP) address in the 25.xxx range and one IPv6 address." The virtual IP address is globally unique -and-spoke network. " - LogMeIn

Can one change the haven if so try that times?

St

Port 25565 in your router and the firewall, share.

Just like everyone else does.

Va

I tried. Unfortunately, it does not help me.

Va

Already tried. But the server is still not reached.

St

Wrong IP… The correct one for the others reads DU on http://www.wieistmeineip.de…

Va

So, have now released the port times (Speedlink router). The problem is that nobody comes to the server when it eiträgt my ip (from myip.is or wieistmeineip.de). In doing so, I leave the ip-field in the server-properties free. When I enter the ip there, the server crashes with the same error message as I wrote above. What else could I do?

DU you may not enter the IP you as wellistmeineip.de in the normal case not in the MC server because you are usually in a NAT / PAT and internally have a "translated" IP public IP is shared. That's why you also need a port forwarding.

If you are interested we can do a remote session (TeamViewer / AnyDesk…) and we will look at it together.

Va

Port forwarding?

Co

Port Forwarding is the translation.

If I want to create a MC server with me at home then I first check my IP.

81.189.42.xx according to wieistmeienip.de

My computer has the IP 192.168.1.12

The whole thing comes from the fact that your router has the public IP and shares this with all devices in the network.

If I now want to open an MC server so I have to say in the router directs traffic from the Internet on the port 25565 comes to the IP 192.168.1.12 to the port 25565 that is port forwarding in NAT / PAT

Va

Please 20% less technical Chinese 😅. What do I have to do now, if I have unlocked the ports?

Co

Ah sorry.
Have you already adjusted the firewall of your operating system? (Windows Firewall)

If all ports are open and the MC server starts, you can check the availability of the port on the following website (specify IP and port (25565)) https://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/

Co

Have you created in your Speedlink router The NAT & Port rules on your PC with the port 25565? (TCP)

Va

No, I have not yet, how do I do that? So with the firewall

Co
1

For Windows 10: System Control Search and open → System and Security → Windows Defender Firewall → Advanced Settings (left) → Inbound Rules - Right click → New Rule → Port → TCP / 25565 → Allow → Domain, Private, Public then it works → give name (MC server)

Ok, port is now open, according to yougetsignal. Which ip would I have to enter now (as another player, so that I can enter the launched server: the router ip or the ip of my pc?

Co

The router (wieistmeineip.de) and you 127.0.0.2

Va

Habs tries (with another pc that is in my wlan network) did not work, the server is not recognized and the connection is dead

Co

With a PC in your WLAN?
Since you have to use the local IP such as 10.x.x.x or 172.x.x.x or 192.168.x.x the PC has.

And you would not even need a port forwarding on the router

So the ipv4-address, if I do in cmd "ipconfig"?

Va

Worked. Thanks again for your fast and persistent help, you will get the star afterwards.

Co

Thanks for the star, with further questions in the range Linux, Minecraft, network and servers you can write to me, either heir or on Twitter: @topicslp
