Best server operating system?

Now that I have built a server / PC together, I would now like to make it a server. Which operating system would you recommend?

(I would like to host websites, be able to make backups online and run a Minecraft server at least…)

I would recommend Debian Linux for your use case.

Is Minecraft / Minecraft Server now available under FreeBSD again? A few months ago, when I tested it for the last time, unfortunately, we couldn't (anymore).

That's a good question, the last time I did it was 2 years ago. I would have to test in a VM, if it works.

In the use case mentioned, I would recommend Linux.
