I'm working on a Minecraft server and I'm currently thinking about the maps. Since there are many to download, I wonder if the creator of a map has a right to payment for using his map, or if the mention of the creator is sufficient.
I ask only for maps already online, not for maps that would be created especially for me
Everything that is created with Minercaft and put online is owned by Mojang and they allow the use without having to pay for it.
Nobody can charge you money if you use his maps.
There are many Minecraft forums (I recommend planetminecraft) on which there are many free maps for download. You do not have to do any credits unless you want the creator to do something good. There are also other forums where map creators sell their maps for a bit of money. There's just the advantage that this base is not everywhere.
Let's put it this way, Maps will be difficult to sell, since you can properly down load them when you enter the server.
But generally it is allowed to sell things that you have developed for Minecraft. Mojang even has its own marketplace for this:
