Is the Raspberry pi 4 8gb worth it for a Forge Minecraft server?
I wouldn't necessarily use the Pi for an MC server. The performance is generally quite poor. You are probably better off with an Ebay office PC with an Intel CPU for the same price.
Should only take one with an SSD for server operation, but a 120GB SSD doesn't cost that much anymore.
The power consumption of the PI is of course lower than that of a normal PC
Well, I'm concerned with power consumption and I will overclock the CPU to 2 GHz with a fan. I have an SSD lying around here. Another point is that I can easily take it with me and connect it to a laptop to switch it on because I often want to gamble with a buddy in the car when we drive it somewhere, just connect the PI with mobile data, do the same with the 2 laptops and already We gamble on the way when we drive from Germany to Syria / Iraq. We can charge the laptops on the car where my father uses solar energy upstairs. This is how we did it with the PI 2 on a Vanilla server.
And if we're not in the same place you can use Hamachi.
