How can you convert an MC server to different servers?

I rented a Minecraft server and would now like to use it on different servers. Can I just replace the whole folder (minecraft; minecraftbukkit) with others and then I have another server with a different version, etc? Or do I have to pay attention to certain things?

So in theory it works, but it depends on which provider you have, with most of them you have to change the version etc. And the .jar, i.e. The server file, can usually not just be replaced.

But you can drag the worlds and plugins over without hesitation.
