Make transparent pixels on a skin?

I have a PNG image where there's a 2D Minecraft skin. I don't mean the picture where you can see a player, but where the skin exploded and was crushed.

In this picture there's a chicken skin that has thin legs, so some pixels on the legs are transparent, this is also shown in the picture, but when I select this skin in Minecraft Launcher, these transparent pixels are displayed in black.

What can I do to make these pixels, which should actually be transparent but are black, become transparent?

In Minecraft, transparent textures can't be displayed using software. If you have some knowledge of Java you can put together a mod that allows you to do that. Lg
