Suggestions for improvement for my Minecraft house?

Is in beta 1.7.3, so please do not suggest things that are only possible in later versions. How could I improve the house?

More decoration in general. For example, a small pond, more trees (possibly not the standard trees but which they "invent" themselves), a small stable or similar… There are many options. I wouldn't change much about the house.
