Copyright of Minecraft Texture Pack?

Hello is it a copyright violation if I take a texturepack and edit it myself and then sell it? (I do not process everything but only parts of the pack)

Sw

Depends on the license under which the texturepack was published. Usually you violate the copyright, especially if you want to sell it (which is actually quite a cheeky thing with texturepacks)

Al

Why impudence

Se

Because you sell things that you have not created yourself, and to call this an insolence that other people do not want you to steal their work, is rather presumptuous and disrespectful.

Al

I'm changing it but I wanted to know if the basic structure can be stuck

Al

I also put my work into it

an

Since you do not process everything but only parts:

Yes.

Because you just stole the textures that you don't edit → copyright violation.

Al

Thank you

Sw

I find paid texture packs in themselves very questionable. There was no such thing before.

Se

Well, but if I copy someone else's text and exchange a few passages myself, it's still plagiarism, and that's exactly how it is here.
