So my question is in the title. I just want to know if you can download the Minecraft source code and if so, where and if you can change / influence the textures with this source code, for example. Has anyone tried this before and if so, how did you do it or are there videos?
PS: No, I do NOT want to create a mod, but change the Minecraft source code! ^^
As far as I know you can write in minecraft add ons in Java, which also implies your requirements, but I'm not familiar with minecraft.
You can google if Minecraft is open source, but I very much doubt it.
stay tuned, good sunday.
There are certain Minecraft development kits, but they are not available for snapshot versions (e.g. 1.16 = version, 20w08a = snapshot). I didn't even think about add-ons, thanks.
Change textures? Create a resource pack
Change code? Download MCP
Can you change textures in the source code of Minecraft without a texture pack?
Rather difficult.
And how did Mojang do it? Made? They uploaded it to their website somewhere, didn't they?
But you can install a resourcepack in the client, which you can no longer change, if you mean that
Oh that's what you mean. That is also a texturepack just in the jar file. Unzip the mc 1.8 version, you will see an assets folder and a textures folder.
