Is minecraft java edition free? Since if I enter http://www.minecraft.net/...t/download it doesn't mean to buy… I might have a Minecraft account, could I log in and play normally or is this a demo version that I have to pay for afterwards?

The download is free. However, you can only play with a registered account and that costs a little money. At least it used to be.

The trial version is always the same world, which you can play 4 ingame days. After that, you have to buy it or start the world again.
