I have a Minecraft server with friends. This is 1.14.4 and the world is just our "island" with a few houses etc.
Now we have two problems:
At first we wanted to play the world with mods, but the mods we want to use (e.g. Decocraft) are only available on 1.12.2>
In addition, we wanted to have our island in the country - at the moment I always have to expand the island per / fill… And of course design it (not too flat).
So would it be possible to change the version of the world / the version of the mods and can you somehow insert the island into another world (not just with water) with MCEdit or something like that?
I'm very much looking forward to answers, because we do not want to erase the world or start a new one with what we have so far.

I recommend world edit for copying. As far as updating mods is concerned, you can do it yourself if you can read a little java programs and of course have the surce code of the mods. Most of the time this is relatively easy, but you will probably need 4-5 days to update a mod.
In my experience, some mods are so focused that they can't be updated at all.
It is best to look for alternatives that are available in 1.14 and higher. You can update the world too.
You can convert a newer version of Minecraft to an older one, but I don't recommend that because it comes with a lot of bugs.
(E.g. That boxes become invisible and indestructible and lose their contents)
I recommend creating a backup of the world either way.
There are mods that can move bigger things, they just have to be compatible with your mods and I have no honor.
Thanks I tried that with converting - from 1.14.4 with seaweed and other things in the water I had colored glasses and nether stone instead of smooth quartz at 1.12.2 😬 but thanks anyway🤗
So I'm out of Java as far as Java is concerned, but I can definitely give World Edit a try. That's cross-version, right?
It's mainly about the Mod Decocraft (and the old version of the MrCrayfish Mod)
Unfortunately there's (Decocraft) no new version but let's see…
