Does Minecraft Beta affect my worlds?

I play Minecraft (Bedrock Edition) and would like to download the beta version to try out the Nether update features.

- does the update affect my other worlds with the older version?

- can I then play in a world of an older version with others who don't have beta?

No, unless you enter it, it will be updated and will no longer work with the old version
