How does it work

St

Not at all, but setting up a server is not that difficult…

On Windows there's a double click on a file and it runs…

Th

There's a possibility to have a Minecraft server for free, the platform is called Aternos

St

Aternos is junk…

As you always want to do that to each other…

A small server that is hosted from home, mind you, only started when you are also playing, is 1000 times better…

Have you tried this before? Do you like it? Then try home hosting too.

Th

Your opinion, I like to use Aternos.

St

Ah, so you like to wait and have a lot of time.

Not all kids on this planet have that…

You should really try to host from home, that would open your eyes…

ho

That will not do. Rent a free server on http://aternos.org/...ernos.org/.

Th

How do I do that? XD I'm stupid… Do I have to be able to do something? If so, please write private

LG

PS: Does it cost money?

Hu

There's only one server and not several

Hu

How do you make a server that is on the pc?

an

It literally takes 3 minutes for an Aternos server to start, since it takes almost longer to start one on my own PC.

If you don't have the necessary performance, or if you like the super simple web interface from Aternos, where you can install any plugin or modpack with 2 clicks, then it's not a bad choice.

ho

Yes, you have to rent a server. You then send the IP to your friends.

an

You download the server software, agree to the EULA, start the server, and then do port forwarding for port 25565 in your router. Then you determine your public IP and give it to your friends. It's not difficult, there are also tutorials.

St

So I can do it for me in 1 minute… Port release presupposed…

an

And the 2 minutes make a difference?

I always use Aternos, although I have released port 25565 and also have a server on my PC. But I have 1. Not the necessary performance and 2. Is the Aternos interface just great. Simple, fast, extensive.

So yes, everyone has their own, but I think Aternos is great. It used to be bad: long waiting times, poor server performance. But nowadays, when you want to play with a few friends, it's super comfortable. Especially if you want to play a modpack. Two clicks and you're done. Another advantage: You can share the account, then everyone can turn on the server when they want.

But yeah, if you'd rather have a server running on your pc then go for that. Just wanted to point out that Aternos isn't as bad as you do. And does not require a long setup in contrast to home hosting.

Forgiving ip is dangerous

ho

That's not a problem at all because you only need one server!
