Minecraft singleplayer AFK?

I played Minecraft for a long time (single player), I built a Sugar Cain Farm and wanted to go AFK but play something else at the same time. The Sugar Cain grows when you press Escape or play something else. If not, how can you be AFK in a singing player world and playing something else?
