I want to open a big smp server with many of my boys where we will build a huge survival world together.
I want to host a server for this, but I don't know anything about it.
briefly for info i don't know me at all servers and hosting but i want to start with that. I don't feel like using server hosts like minehut or server pro or aternos.
My questions now are, How do you host your own server with your pc #
How much gb ram will you have or what is it related to, is it related to my cpu / gpu or how exactly does it work?
Sorry, I really don't know anything about hosting the server
You need a computer that can run it
Full access to the router config
An IPv4 address
Thats it
Download the Minecraft Server.jar from the official site and start this exe file.
Then you still have to set up port forwarding from your router to your computer and you are good-to-go.
Then your computer can be reached from the outside and your friends can join the server.
Of course, the server only runs when you have started the server program. (So only when the computer is switched on.)
Just search for "Local Minecraft Server german" on YouTube
Then you should find something there. The videos from "HimGames" helped me very well in the past. Maybe there are now better videos from other YouTubers, so you just have to watch them yourself.
Thank you
So downloading Minecraft Server for your own pc is free. However, if you want to forward your server to the Internet, you have to activate the port in your router settings. But luckily there's an alternative way how you can forward Minecraft servers to the Internet despite no port activation, and that would be with Hamachi. The Hamachi has two disadvantages: On the one hand, not so many players can join in, and on the other hand, your friends also need Hamachi access to your server and you have to create an account with Hamachi and connect. I did the same with my friend, and I was very proud that it worked for us (after I did not trust myself to activate the port because this router does not belong to me). The Hamachi setup was a bit of a struggle but it worked.
