Is it possible to start in the Nether Challenge?

Is it possible in Minecraft to spawn in the Nether completely without items and to get to the overworld without cheating? Because you would have to get iron somehow to mine nethergold and trade with the Piglins, or is there another way?

It is possible, as there are mostly broken portals with the ability to get enough obsidian to fix it, so it shouldn't fail.

How do you get obsidian to repair without water and without slides in the nether? I'm not yet familiar with the trading options with the Piglins, hence the question. Do they drop something?

I've just checked for myself: Since obsidian can be mined with nether hooks, exchanged for Piglins and found in chests in the nether, you can also restore portals or build completely new ones. Iron can also be traded in Piglins or found in chests, and so can flint. So you can get to the upper world without diamonds.

True. There are obsidian and lighter in fortresses. That would be the pre-1.16 way.
