How can I prevent the fox from killing my animals in the farm, even though the farm was fenced in, the fox somehow killed all my chickens.

I would just put a roof over the farm and lock everything where you could get in.

Foxes can jump over fences. They jump pretty high when attacking.
Here you can see a fox jumping (there's a chicken under the lava, that's why it is jumping):
You can leash the fox some distance away, then the chickens are safe.

Occur in the taiga biome and the snow biome. They are not uncommon in the Taiga Biome, but the mountain foxes are much rarer.
Then it's probably because I find both biomes incredibly ugly and therefore avoid them.
