How much does Hamachi cost and are there free alternatives?

I would like to play Minecraft with a friend of two, but unfortunately we're not in the same network. Now I've heard of Hamachi, but that's paid, something with subscription. Is there a safe alternative that costs nothing? Or is there a free version of Hamachi with limited features or something?

CHIP Conclusion on LogMeIn Hamachi

Hamachi is an all-rounder With no complicated configuration, remote computers can be combined to form a virtual and secure LAN. Unfortunately, the service is only offered in the paid version. That should deter many users. Currently free alternative:

That should help you.

In addition, you should also look if the demo version is not enough for you. I used Hamachi for Minecraft the last time 6 years ago, so I did not even pay a dime and I did not crack it. But it may be that it is actually no longer usable without the subscription. I do not know that.
