I just heard that Minecraft Windows 10 Edition is free if you also have Minecraft Java Edition, right?

So I can request a Win10 version code from my two Minecraft accounts (both created before Bedrock release). But I don't know if this is still the case with newer ones.
You could redeem it for a while. But that's long gone and you're too late.
The offer has been discontinued since April of this year. Nobody gets it for free anymore.

If you bought the Java before October 2018 you got the Bedrock Edition for free. But that was also discontinued in April 2020.

Ahh, I see. You got the key until October 2018, it was redeemable until April 2020.
It still seems redeemable, at least I still have mine, and the store doesn't actually tell me that it wouldn't work. I didn't press the final button though, so there might be another check after that - but it would be a pretty dubious system.

The Redeem what you see there requires a key that you can buy. You can no longer find the key that used to exist in a Mojang account. If you still have the key from then somewhere, you can of course still redeem it.
I'm not that interested in the BE, maybe I can give it away one day.
