Minecraft on MacBook Pro in late 2011?

I wanted to ask if I can play Minecraft on my MacBook, because it crashes with the error message: No suitable pixel format.

It is a MacBook Pro end of 2011 with 4GB RAM and i7 processor and Intel HD 3000 Graphics

He does not have a Metal Compatible Graphics Card.
Can I still launch Minecraft?

Mac book is awesome! Rather buy a Raspberry Pi for the money from Minecraft!
