So when I wanted to download minecraft forge I caught a virus. I would now like to know how to remove it. The windows security service said it was removed or severely restored
Get Avira Antivirus.
That will do an exam.
Where did you download Minecraft Forge?
Here: http://files.minecraftforge.net/...forge.net/
Because then it wouldn't be a virus.
Google Chrome often displays downloaded files as malicious, although they are mostly harmless.
Use Malwarebytes and ADWcleaner (both downloaded from the official site!) And let them do a scan.
It constantly asks you to upgrade, depends on everything and very important: It only recognizes a fraction of what Malwarebytes / ADWcleaner recognize and as free protection, Windows Defender from Win10 is also worlds better and pre-installed.
What makes you suspect that you have a virus on board?
How does it make itself felt?
My screen turns off for no reason computer is much slower
Can you give me a link to the official site
Horror story
No, experience. And why download such a program when Win10 includes it?
From which site did you download "Minecraft Forge"?
I have never heard of a virus turning off a screen. I don't think that's likely.
Did you scan the hard disk with your virus protection program (e.g. Win.Defender, Avira, Avast etc.)? - With what result?
If the laptop / PC is still running too slowly for you, perform a Win10 recovery. - Then your Win10 is reinstalled like new.
There are two options: "Keep my files" and "Remove everything".
With both options, all apps or programs you install will be deleted.
Go to Settings> Update and Security> Left Sidebar: Recovery> Reset this PC: Here we go> Choose your option… - See:.
I would select "Keep my files".
Make sure that the laptop / PC is connected to the Internet via LAN.
If this is a laptop, fully charge the battery beforehand and also connect the power supply as a precaution.
In the normal course, expect about 2 hours
