Why is the windows 10 version for minecraft cheaper than the normal version?
I have windows 10 on the pc, can i still play online with this version with others who do not have windows 10?
You mean with normal version the Java Edition, right?
But no, only Minecraft players using the same edition can play together.
The Windows 10 version comes from Microsoft itself and not from Mojang. The Windows 10 version was linked to the Bedrock version and allows the connection to Pocket Edition servers. The Java version is independent, so you can't play with the Windows 10 version on servers of the Java version. The Windows 10 version also hangs with the updates and is based on the Pocket Edition, which currently runs on the 1.12.2. (current Java version: 1.14.4)
There are 3 different versions to consider.
1. Java Edition - Classic Minecraft for the PC
2. Bedrock Edition - these include:
Pocket Edition
Windows 10 Edition
Gear VR Edition
Fire TV Edition
Xbox One Edition
Nintendo Switch Edition
and 3. Legacy Console Edition
Xbox 360
PlayStation 3
PlayStation 4
PlayStation Vita
Wii U Edition
Java can only play together with Java, Bedrock only with Bedrock and Legacy Console only with Legacy Console. Only Java is the real Minecraft which is also developed by Mojang, Bedrock and Legacy Console are just reprogrammed versions of it. Accordingly, Java is also the most expensive, also because of course it always gets the updates first.
An addition: Another reason why the Bedrock edition is so cheap at Win10, that with this version "was beaten" and therefore almost everyone got the thing for free anyway
