Anvil displays Too expensive?

In Minecraft I have a strength IV bow and my strength IV (and flame, infinity, punch) and now wanted to combine the two for strength V. But it only shows "Too expensive". Can someone help me?

Is there any way to get around that? Or do I have strength IV twice now?

I love minecraft too but i only have one guess, probably too much enchantment or need way too much xp

You have to combine the enchantments otherwise it won't work.

For example with a sword knockback with sharpness to a book

and durability then with sweeping edge.

then gradually combine the books with sword

It's just too expensive. You have to collect way too many levels. That would take months…

You can't combine the arches…

That doesn't work with thousands of levels either. Items can only be combined / repaired a certain number of times, etc.

Does that mean I'm screwed?

Throw away new bewitches

Swap the two arcs. Maybe then it will work.

If not, then you are unlucky, there's nothing you can do about it. This happens when you've enchanted or repaired the arches too many times.
