First of all, I don't think you need a Microsoft account for Minecraft Java. Sure for Bedrock, but Java? I think you need a Mojang account, which may then be linked to the Microsoft account. (if you get the Bedrock again) you have to buy the Java Edition itself, that is out of the question. And in general, a Microsoft or Xbox Live account is free. The Xbox Live Gold subscription is still available, but you only need it on the Xbox 360 and Xbox One console.
