What do you think about my revised PC configuration?

Moin Leudeee,

I have put together a PC and would now like to have a second, well-founded opinion on the PC. I would like to use the PC mainly for gaming (Minecraft, Valorant, Forza Horizon 4 and other games in the same direction) and streaming (via NVENC), but I should also be able to edit videos.

Here the PC: https://geizhals.de/...WL-1981862

For the graphics card, I calculate with 550 euro, because as far as I know it is the recommended retail price of the card. With the PC, I put something on optics and the air cooler is used as a transition to then retrofit the WaKü later.

Does the PC fit that way or should I improve something? My budget is around 1600 euro, but not more.

It greets

a confused one

Quite good in my opinion.

Looks good 👍. I have one more suggestion, but it doesn't matter that much, and that's your SSD. It's good, no question about it, I also have it for my games. But could you still recommend the Kingston A2000, I have it as a system hard drive and it's a bit faster than the Crucial. Pretty much the same in price. Well, you probably hardly notice the difference, if at all, in practice, but that's also a small note 😉.

But otherwise it looks like a good system, for me personally too many colored lights 🙈, but that's a matter of taste.

Se

If you set the colored lights to one color it looks good, which is also my plan.

But when I buy the SSD, I just look at what's cheaper and then take it, I don't get any benefit from the higher speed anyway

Ba

Yes, as I said, it's a matter of taste 😉. And SSD, yes, was just a little bit of information 😉. Otherwise it's a great system with a lot of potential 👍

Mi

Your config is pretty good, so you can play all games with it. The CPU is good, but if you want to stream too, the CPU is pretty tight.

8 cores / 16 threads would be better.

You can use Intel instead of Ryzen CPU because Intel has lowered prices so low.

And yes an RTX 3060 is a good idea with this PC. 😊

Se

Do I need a higher CPU if I want to stream with the graphics card? So shouldn't all the stress be on the GPU?

Mi

The Crucial SSDs are very good, almost as good as Samsung.

Fl

There's nothing to counter this, but why a Phanteks Vertical GPU Kit?

every plug connection leads to a deterioration in the transmission quality that is simple physics. You add another connector to the system and even with the graphics card where terabytes of data are transferred. Not a good idea in my opinion.

Think about it, why is the graphics card always in the first slot in the mainboard? In order to keep the path to the CPU / RAm as short as possible, this minimizes latencies. You're even doubling this way now, I don't know, I wouldn't have done this to myself.

Mi

Sure, you can integrate the graphics card, then it will be reasonable.

But the more professional streamers prefer to run it completely on the CPU, because the quality is a bit better and from 8 cores you are guaranteed no FPS drops or artifacts in the stream.

PS: If you only stream small games like Fortnite, you can ignore my comment, this is also great with 6 cores.

Fl

Thumbs up for the Geizhalz link:-) most people expect to get a finished configuration delivered here

Sm

First of all, everything is fine, I would say. Vertical GPU mount can be done, which I personally find pretty good-looking. Until the 3060TI falls in price again, I think it might take a while… The 3060 (non Ti) would actually be worth considering. But even there you will need a lot of luck to get one at launch. Personally, I would rather use a B450 board with Ryzen 5 3600 (x) or a B550 board with Ryzen 5 5600x (which easily overtakes the I5, but is currently a bit more expensive). Since you are streaming, an I7 or a Ryzen 7 might be more interesting for you, since 8 cores are useful when it comes to something like that. But that's more of a recommendation on my part and the I5 10600KF is also an excellent CPU.

Otherwise I would say that everything fits and that you can do that with a clear conscience at reasonable prices.

Se

As far as I know, the first slot is the only slot that has an x16 connector, the others only x8

Fl

Yes, it is the connection that has the shortest route to the CPU and RAM.

Se

I think the 10600K is the sweet spot in my budget because it is better than the 3600 and the 5600x is at least 100 euro more expensive, and only provides a little more performance in games.

And for streaming I use the NVENC, as I've already had good experiences with it with my 1060 6GB

Sm

This is of course a good idea! I hadn't even considered the encoders on the NVIDIA GPUs ^^ I would also say that you look at what costs how much at the time of purchase, maybe the price for the Ryzen will also fall. Otherwise I would actually stay with the I5.

Se

That hardly makes a difference, problems can only arise from several riser cables, LTT tested it here

Se

I dare to doubt that the 5600x will be 100 euro below the RRP within a year of its release

Fl

Ok Linus is really great! I often watch his videos

Sm

I didn't mean that either ^^ If you're lucky, you might be able to catch a snap. 100 euro cheaper but of course not.

Se

What do you mean by adding your comments to the curmudgeon list?

Fl

Only that you thought about it beforehand and posted a finished configuration here. The curmudgeon link is just clearer instead of a copy paste every component… Others just write, want a new pc, help what should I buy…
