My Minecraft has assigned 2GB Ram. Usually it only takes 300-400 MB. Over time, however, it builds up, and the allocated RAM becomes more and more full, until at some point it reaches the 99% almost permanently → Unplayable.
When I restart the game, it will be back to normal 300MB usage.
But I do not want to restart my game every few hours. Can you somehow empty the RAM ingame?
Version 1.8.8
Update?
*cough cough*
No, the server is at 1.8: D
So I always use 8gb of memory for Minecraft, as much as my PC has, everything is going great for me
I can't give more than 2. In addition, Minecraft does not usually need so much, is more of a bug.
Did you also install the 64 bit version of Java? Then the 2 GB limit is no longer valid.
Clear. But I can't / will not assign anymore. In addition, that would also fill up with time. Problem remains.
Does your PC have only 2 available?
I have 6 GB.
Windows: 3
Firefox: 1
Minecraft: 2
= 6.
I can't give more than 2GB in the long run. Otherwise I do not have enough for other programs.
Moreover - even if I assign 4Gb, they would fill up with time. From that, that does not solve my problem. I need a way to empty the RAM used by the minecraft without rebooting it.
So I do not know the problem, and have you already tried it? I have only 8gb of RAM available, use everything for Minecraft, maybe have other games open and YouTube is always there, but everything works for me
What do you mean by "filling up", usually RAM is the memory used for games to run properly, depending on how much power they have, they need more memory
Minecraft apparently has a bug that it does not erase non-used files in RAM. Normally the RAM usage (seen in F3 above) varies from 1% to 20% of the 2GB, but after a few hours it varies from 85% to 100%. Means 85% are simply not used at all, and are probably filled with old garbage that has not been deleted. That's what I mean by "it fills up".
Achso: / vllt there's a cache folder, then there would be files in it are the garbage that you can delete, vllt it goes
