Configure and assemble your PC correctly: newbie?

I'm fairly new to PC building and I don't fully understand the compatibility between the individual components. For example which motherboard goes with which CPU, does every CPU fit every GPU, how strong does the power supply have to be and which one should I buy… I would also be very happy to receive recommendations for individual components or even entire setups. And which is actually better: Intel or AMD… And why?

So you can see that I really don't have much idea, so no information is too unimportant for me! I'm on a tight budget… Would building a PC for gaming with a budget of 500 euro be realistic? Or can you also buy and upgrade ready-made PCs?

I thank you in advance for all the answers and have a nice day to everyone.

Oh yes, I currently play personal games, games like Minecraft, but I would also like to play FPS games. I also have a YT channel and work with OBS and I use a 3D program called Blender… Then I should go for a good CPU, right?

Okay, that sounds reasonable… I have a fairly old PC and I was advised to go for a completely new one… But I think it's better that way.

Of course, buying a finished new one would probably be cheaper.

But a top device is not cheap, even if you try to build it yourself without much knowledge.

Especially if you don't have that much money, you can exchange the individual components after us.

But it is important that your hardware is also suitable for the current Windows 10, otherwise it would of course be bad if you had an ancient computer that e.g. Times for WinXP or Win7 was built, tried to operate with Windows 10.

Otherwise, I think the step-by-step update is useful in your case (since you also want to learn something about hardware)

Before you get lost in the topic, let's just start from scratch, you have already presented the correct first step: the requirement profile

What your PC must be able to do first determines the general framework in which we have to look around, but games inevitably always mean having to plan a corresponding graphics card. 3D programs need the graphics card in exactly the same way, so we kill two birds with one stone, at the same time we also know right away that we should be at least in the middle class. In contradiction to this, you work with OBS and also stream diligently, which then works less well with a middle class card, so look one shelf further what the market for upper class cards has to offer. As a budget for the whole PC you now set 500 euro, because we stumble directly and unfortunately no longer get any further, even if the prices for graphics cards would be normal at the moment, currently set more to 1500 euro and see how far you can get with it.

CPU:

First of all, we're looking for a CPU first, with which we commit ourselves to a platform with all the consequences and advantages and disadvantages. Personally, I would only build a quad core into simple systems today, but what you do is rather complex to look at if I can rub the keyword "streaming via OBS" under your nose. This is exactly where the greatest computing load is likely to occur in combination with a running game, which is why we will take a look at the Octacore CPUs (6 are a bit tightly designed for the next few years). Since I will now also look at the price a bit, I automatically end up with AMD, because we then get a bit more multicore performance than Intel can provide. Ryzen 5800 would be something nice, but it also eats electricity directly and costs 1.5 times the 3700 which is much less on the road with about the same performance. In any case, you will not notice the difference, think about the price and not about 1-2FPS anymore.

2. Mainboard:

The mainboard will now be the advantage of self-construction, namely, we rely on PCIe 4.0 and grab a board with a B550 chipset and connect the graphics card correctly later. To do this, let's quickly browse through the offer, first forget everything you know about boards and throw your dream brand in the garbage can. I'm concerned with the power supply and its cooling, but at the same time we don't want to spend more than we have to. I'll shorten it right now, otherwise I'll sit here until tomorrow evening and chew through dozens of reviews on sites you have never seen before, we'll just throw the Asrock B550M Steel Legend into the shopping cart.

3.RAM:

Now you are asked for a change, go look for which RAM runs as a 32GB kit on our Steel Legend. Asrock provides the necessary information on the website, you just have to look where you can find it. I'll just give you G.Skill 3600Mhz, a look at reviews in online shops can answer your question. By the way, we take 3600s because AMD enables it ex works and we want to equip your PC optimally for its everyday tasks, saving a few € here is the wrong approach and RAM is not necessarily that expensive.

4. Graphics card:

Now for the big tragedy graphics card, it's getting expensive here at the moment anyway, so feel free to dig deep into your pocket. As a compromise, I would now suggest the 3070 so that we're on the way to match the CPU and don't have to put 1000 euro on the table for a 500 euro card, apart from that we also need the card so that we can get to the next point (which I will postpone until tomorrow if you are still interested, depending on the time) can go deeper or I can give you something for the future in general.
