Minecraft on Mac; Mouse wheel is unreliable?

I've been playing Minecraft on my Macbook for a while and my mouse wheel is pretty unreliable. When I want to scroll through my hotbar with the wheel, it only works sometimes. It can't really be because of the mouse, otherwise it will work. Does anyone know what to do next?

Must actually be the mouse. But if you are sure that it works otherwise, reinstall minecraft.
