Minecraft Optifine not working?

I want to use shader in my Minecraft and have therefore downloaded Optifine. However, I can't open it even though I have installed java runtime. In addition, the file does not have a title picture, as is normally the case with a .jar file. And how do I do it with 7 Zip? When I open it with 7 Zip, all I see is a bunch of folders and text files!

What to do?

Ki

Do you have Java installed in general?
If so, have you installed Java Fx?
Don't open that with ZIP, then it won't work. It must remain a Java file and you double-click it

El

I have not installed JavaFx. How do I install this?

da

First install Java so that optifine is no longer a zip package but a coffee mug (sometimes it still looks like a zip package). Then download curseforge from the Overwolf Store is free. In Forge you then create a Minecraft modpack with the version you want to play everything else you can leave unchanged. You click on this modpack and in the upper right corner there are 3 points for settings. There you go to show folder. In the new window, go to mods and add optifine. Close everything and click play. If you want to play with shaders, I would recommend you to go to Forge in the same settings where Show folder is on Profile Options and uncheck the box for using system memory and set the slider to your RAM number manually.

Try opening it with Java. If that doesn't work, download the JarFix program.

You don't need CurseForge for this, it just makes it unnecessarily complicated if he just wants Optifine

da

Forge is by far the easiest

Ki

Why should he first install Curse Forge just to install Optifine, which he can do with a double click on the jar file

Ki

In addition, these modpacks start from a completely different Minecraft folder, which means that you have all your shaders, resource packs and worlds

In addition, these modpacks start from a completely different Minecraft folder, which means that all your shaders, resource packs and worlds are not available.

That's why I prefer to use the old method to install my mods directly from the mods folder

Java fx LTK or Jmods?

There's a program called JarFix with which you can easily open Jar files. Nevertheless, thank you very much for the answer.

Thanks, it worked.

Ki

JarFix is good
