Java was displayed in the task manager while playing minecraft, but does not exist on my PC and problems with optifine?

This morning I installed optifine for minecraft Java with a lot of problems.

First I had downloaded optifine for 1.16.4 from optifine.net, but whenever I double-checked the file to install optifine, an eternally longer code opened in paint and not Java.

After several attempts, I checked whether Java was even on my PC. Apparently Java was not on my PC, although I was sure that whenever I had played minecraft Java, the task manager would say Java.

Although I was sure that Java existed on mine, I still downloaded and installed Java again. Everything worked fine. I then tried to open optifine via Java, but it never worked, there was always an error message and Java was suddenly no longer on my pc. In total I reinstalled Java 5 times.

In my last and successful attempt, I googled the error message that always pops up when I tried to install optifine. The research was successful and I had to press the Windows key and r. There I then selected different folders and wrote things behind them. That worked and I was able to install optifine and play minecraft with it.

But what happened that kept Java disappearing from my pc? And why did Java not exist at the beginning of my attempts to install optifine, although I was sure that I had seen Java in the task manager while playing minecraft? Or is Java now 5 times on my lc and I couldn't find it? Java was no longer under program files after it disappeared, only after reinstalling.

I hope that the text is not too incomprehensible, LG

Minecraft now comes directly with Java, but only for Minecraft as far as I know. In other words, you don't have to download Java to play Minecraft.

I was able to play minecraft without any problems without downloading Java, but Java was not present in the files, only in the task manager

Yes, Minecraft ultimately only runs with Java, but Minecraft has "its own Java version".
So Minecraft downloads a Java version that is only used for Minecraft, but is not installed directly.

I had that problem too…

You just have to rename the java file to OptiFine with upper and lower case

Then you hold down shift and do a right click.

Now go to Open Powershell and then enter there: Java -jar OptiFine.jar

and then you hit enter

I know it sounds absurd and like a fake but it really worked for me

Hu

I hope I could help you

Po

But this is only possible if Java is installed.

Yes

He still has to do that if he hasn't done it yet
