Use of gold ore in Minecraft?

Short question. Gold is rarer than iron but significantly worse? Less damage to the sword and shorter durability. The same applies to armor. Less durability. Why is that?

Yes, gold mining is faster than diamond mining.

The enchanting rate (at least that's what I called it) is a chance of how good the enchantments will be (e.g. Efficiency 4 will come much sooner than with other materials).

That with the gold armor should only work in the future 1.16
