I try to sort items into boxes with Hopper Ducts, but the stupid Hopper Duct only connects in one direction - either to the box OR to the bordering Hopper Duct, no matter how often I hit the stick. Strangely, this worked automatically for another box. What am I doing wrong?
A hopper can ONLY spit out in ONE direction…
Hopperducts too… Had something else on it… Hopperducts can't filter either… (At least how I played with it yet… If an update made it possible, it would be something else ^^)
Clear. Should he too. In the box. But he should RECEIVE the items from the other hopper duct that he should throw into the box. Otherwise it makes no sense.

The duct is always set in the drop direction. The duct that gives him the item has to be set against it… Every other one too. So put the duct to the box, and the other ducts against it, then feed it automatically into one duct (as far as I can remember) … It was at least important, like the hopper, that you always place in the right direction…
Means, I can only have one box / oven / etc. On a box (in which I throw the items that should then end up in the other boxes or in ovens or something). Connect because there's only one direction - namely from the box / oven in which the items should go (recipient) - to the box from which I send the items (sender)?
Hopperducts are only a cheap alternative to hopper (which can also warm up) and without a "suction" effect… So they can't pull anything out, just stubbornly transport them to the front… But other ducts can feed into a hopper duct, so that it the items of the others then gradually transported on…

Oh, it's not complicated… There are item networks with filters, or just Granted Hopper (Filterhopper) that only pull certain things out of boxes… (At least with appropriate mods ^^) …
There's also a filter with hopper and red tone circuit (more complex ^^)
