I don't want my dog to die. That's why he is normally always in the house. Would like to take him somewhere, but I'm afraid that monsters will kill him or he will fall in lava etc.
1. Is he stronger than monsters, can he do it alone?
2. Does he accidentally run / teleport in lava? Or I can accidentally push him in there

No he does not. And yes, you can accidentally push him in
I had the feeling that a skeleton attacked him once when he defended me: v
Oh okay, just tested it. Monsters attack him, but he won alone against 1 normal skeleton.
Yes, your dog could die in a cave, so I would get a second one first and continue to breed the two with bones, then you have a replacement if one of your dogs goes down on it
