Minecraft cave with earth?

I was just in a cave to farm, etc. Except suddenly there was a room with soil and plants. I've been playing Minecraft for years and have never seen anything like it. Does anyone know what that could be?

These rooms only occur in mineshafts. I always refer to them as "spawnrooms" in relation to the slimerooms which one likes to find in caves (rounded-circle-like cave structure) this was called slimerooms, because it was assumed that in older versions this was the only natural way how slimes spawn because slime was still very rare and sought-after. For sticky pistons there was a lot of farming. I think if I started with sline chunks I would go too far

It's nothing unusual, I've seen caves like this several times. But I don't know what to call them.
