Minecraft has announced for a long time that the Mojang accounts will be converted to Microsoft accounts, because of security. But who can tell me when Microsoft plans to do this?
Sometime later this year. They have already started with it, due to the sheer mass of accounts it is dragging on.
The migration started last year.
But due to the number of existing Mojang or Minecraft accounts, they can't all be migrated overnight.
You also need user interaction (linking the two accounts or creating a new Microsoft account). This can't be done automatically.
You haven't started yet. It even says on the page and in the launcher before you log in… Only new accounts are created directly as MS accounts. But no old ones converted yet…

Ah interesting. Thought that was already going on.
Also because the login servers seem to cause problems again and again (especially with new accounts) and do not allow a login to the MP server.
