Did Microsoft buy Minecraft? Recently you have to have a Microsoft account to play Minecraft ๐คจ. That's weird, that's why I ask ๐ค. I appreciate every good answer.

Microsoft bought Minecraft in 2014.
A Microsoft account is more secure than a Mojang account, because of 2FA Auth etc.

Microsoft has long bought Minecraft. The challenge for MS was and is to buy a game because of its growing community and bring it closer to Microsoft without destroying the community. Therefore, they did not immediately swallow Minecraft visibly, but rather quietly worked on an approximation.
