Minecraft villager won't spawn?

I play in creative mode and want to spawn a villager worker with a villager spawn egg. However, only the purple villagers spawn all the time. What now? (Java)

Which version are you playing in? In the newer versions you have to use certain blocks to give villagers a job.

Composter for a farmer

Librarian's lectern

Anvil for a blacksmith

Bogn table for a Bogner

Cartography table for a cartographer

Barrel for a fisherman

Smoker for a butcher

Loom for a shepherd

And to be an armorer, you need a grindstone
