I got an old PC from a friend that originally ran Windows 7 (now has Windows 10) but it is very slow, i.e. It lags in the menu or freezes. For example, when I play Minecraft, I have to reduce the range of vision to 6 Junks because otherwise it is constantly lagging and the game sometimes crashes. If I have more than 2-3 tabs / apps open, which is sometimes necessary in homeschooling, it also starts to lag and sometimes freezes completely. Sometimes random apps close when I'm inside, sometimes they don't even start. I'm quite inexperienced with PCs and computers, so can someone tell me what I need to do or get hold of to solve these problems? (If that works at all)
Here are the technical data:
Processor: Intel (R) Core (TM) i3-2120 CPU @ 3.30GHz 3.30 GHz
RAM: 4GB
System type: 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
About Windows:
Edition: Windows 10 Home
Version: 20H2
No graphics card?
No wonder. 4GB RAM are not much, especially since windows are already about 2 occupied. In addition, a weak cpu and no graphics card.
The problem for the apps and tabs is the RAM for the mc the non-existent graphics card
I know that, my question is what I need and not what I have.
Which graphics card runs in the old box?
A new pc. Upgrading doesn't really help you. When you install a graphics card there's a big bottleneck through the CPU. And you can only change the CPU if you change the mainboard and the RAM. Thus, only the housing and, if necessary, the hard drives remain there. I would replace these with SSDs in the new PC, then the PC is much faster.
