Is coal possible in Minecraft?

I play minecraft and would like to make a coal exit there's possible. Is it with the coal victory to defeat the end dragon?

You can only ever use charcoal. If not, you just can't use torches. You can also defeat the Ender dragon without any real preparation. For example, by damaging me in the beds that explode.

Sure, instead of simply heating the stove with lava with coal, it works much better anyway.
