I think most of them are at level 12. Then you have to be strip mines and then lucky
You can usually find diamonds where there's lava. If you find a cave with lava you will normally find something there
How do I see the height and who I'm
If you press F3, the coordinates are at the bottom right
If you play on the Bedrock (console, mobile phone or Windows 10), then go to the settings of your world, a little further down you should see the option Turn on coordinates at some point, you do that, then you go out of the settings and above links should be Now your coordinates are XYZ. The second number is your height / level, it is best to dig between levels 8 and 15, there are most diamonds. Lava has nothing to do with diamonds.
In the Java version you have to press f3 in your world, then all sorts of stuff should be on the edges of your screen. Above left from the second paragraph are your coordinates, one XYZ and one block. The two indicate the same, but it is XYZ coordinate more precise, since commas also show where you are, but the block coordinates are clearer, so I would recommend them for the diamond search. Now back on level 8-15 digits (second number) and off you go. Here, too, lava has nothing to do with diamonds.
Alternatively, you can also find slides in desert temples, in a stronghold (dungeon with end portal), jungle temples and other dungeons. Further questions in the comments.
