8 gigabytes of RAM enough?

Build a pc for me. (ASUS DUAL GTX1650 O4GD6 MINI graphics is my graphics card)

Have 8Gb RAM and 1Tb system storage capacity. My question:

is that enough? I'm a student so I need Word, ppt, windows ect. But I also want to be able to gamble like Minecraft, csgo and METRO… Is that enough?

P.s: does anyone know what the 1Tb system memory capacity is used for when everything is about RAM anyway?

cu

Yes, quite ok for such a bit of office.

And no, it's not all about RAM. The permanent storage is the disk. And the whole thing is noticeably faster if it's an SSD.

ke

It will be enough for Office, for Minecraft and CSGO too. It might cause problems with Metro, at least with Metro: Exodus.

fl

It's great for home office. To gamble I would recommend you at least 16gb, the few euro don't do it.

P.s: does anyone know what the 1Tb system memory capacity is used for when everything is about RAM anyway?

Ram and system space are not the same or what do you mean?

Wi

So what are these 1Tb for?

fl

Storage space for apps, games, documents, pictures, data, files, whatever is on the PC

Wi

Ahaa and what then this 8gb if I have 1tb then go gambling and so everything is easy

fl

No no 1Tb is the hard drive (all your data on the PC) and RAM is how much you can open in the background to start playing games. RAM and storage space are completely different.

Wi

Okayyy haha thanks ^^

Wi

And what do I have to do if I have to replace the 1tb? I have to keep / save all data iwo

fl

The data is then on the hard drive, the data carriers are not damaged and are automatically backed up. And get yourself an SSD

ig

The 1 TB system memory is the size of your hard drive and for gaming I would recommend 16 GB of RAM since it could run a bit unsnft and rough with 8

In the meantime, in 2021/22, the rule of thumb is that if you want to "gamble" on your PC, you should have at least 16 RAM (also known as RAM for short).
