Minecraft uses too much RAM?

I upgraded my Minecraft Ram to 6 gigabytes a few days ago because I wanted to play on a Forge server (1.12.2) with a few friends. The game went great until I started version 1.15.2 with Optifine. In this version it was also super. But when I switched back to Forge, Minecraft suddenly consumed 9 gigabytes of RAM, making the game unplayable. It ran very smoothly beforehand. I have already restarted the game, the launcher and the PC, unfortunately in vain.

What was going on?

Only Discord, the Task Manager and the Minecraft Launcher were running in the background. Texture Pack is Sphax with 128x and the rest of the settings are set to beautiful.

So the 128x texture packs already pull ram well. Have you ever tried it without?

What type of ram and how much is installed?

2 x 8 gigabytes of DDR4 Ram

Definitely sounds like enough, if you change the version again and it is gone, it is up to the mods and if not, then I can't explain it.

Do you have FPS drops or how accurate is that?

Liquid ran as usual on 1.12.2. But with the Forge version I definitely have FPS drops, and not just a few.

How many mods are installed.

There are 31 mods, but I had a few mods that the server no longer had, which is why I took them out. The game is now definitely running smoother, but is still above the RAM limit.
