Although I can set in the Minecraft Launcher, how much RAM I should assign - but not how much I use minimum. My Minecraft uses on average 1GB of memory, which is sometimes a bit higher or lower.
I can also set it up to 6 gigabytes.
However, I want to use at least 4 (so it does not run on 1 GB like it does now) and go up to a maximum of 6 GB. I have a total of 16GB of memory.
I used to do it with xmx and xms, but I can't find that attitude anymore.
Why should the game use 4GB of RAM when I apparently only need 1GB?

You can't set a minimum number used by your RAM. If the game needs only 1GB in a given situation, it only takes 1GB. Otherwise, that would be just like if you pour a flower with 20 liters. It does not take so much so it does not absorb so much… You can write in your profiles with JVM arguments -Xmx1G -Xmx6G and then minecraft can use up to 6 GB. If the game does not need the 6 GB at the moment, then you can't make the memory unnecessarily full. A question, why would you want to fill up your RAM unnecessarily?
The game uses as much RAM as it needs. You can't adjust the consumed, but only the maximum consumption.
