I bought Minecraft from the Microsoft Store with a voucher. There it turned out it can't be installed on the laptop, but only on the Xbox. But I don't have an Xbox. However, the game description says: cross-platform.
My buddy has a similar problem. He has the gamepass and Minecraft can't be installed on his PC either.
Have I been spending money for free, or is that a Microsoft problem? Because it says that it is cross-platform and Minecraft is known not to be an Xbox only title.
Well, did you buy the content for the Xbox? If so, then of course it can't be installed on the PC.
Cross-platform does not represent the game itself. If you have a license for the Xbox, that's limited to that too. You can only play with one player on another console.
Whether this is still up to date:
Hello Florian,
At the moment it has not yet been announced, but we do not consider it unlikely that, thanks to the Xbox Anywhere platform, after the introduction of cross-play ("Friendly Update"), it will finally be possible to buy the game on one platform also to receive on another automatically without additional payment.
