Minecraft Windows 10 Edition hacked, what now?

Our daughter got Minecraft Windows 10 Edition for Easter yesterday. From her Easter money she bought items for just under 15 euro.

And this morning the account was hacked… Now her name is "Steve", it looks different, no longer has all the items bought and the remaining Minecraft coins are gone too…

I still have the Microsoft TransactionIDs. I was already on some pages and have browsed:

There's little point in contacting the Minecraft site because the site is 1. Only in English and 2. The great people there either do not report at all or only report in 90 days.

Now my questions:

Will I get the money I paid yesterday via PayPal?

I thank you!

Ru

You learned english at school didn't you?

There's also the page 100% in German.

It is normal that the character your daughter is playing is called "Steve".

If you have not received the services you paid for, write an email to the appropriate department at Microsoft.

If you had bought the Java Edition that would not be a problem

Ma

First of all thanks! I clearly learned English. The page is actually in German for now. Unfortunately, the support page for me is then in English. Sorry, it's too tedious for me. I don't really know myself about Minecraft. So are you always called "Steve"? Or is this the basic name, so to speak? What is the difference between the Windows 10 version and the Java edition? I didn't pay much for the download key for the Windows 10 Edition… If there were still a few things to clarify, I would simply buy the Java Edition.

The basic character is called Steve correctly. I've never played Windows 10 edition so I can't tell you how to change the name. The difference between Windows 10 / bedrock and Java edition:

Java is the "original" version of Mojang:

You buy the game and join it on a server, downloading skins, "custom maps", shaderm, texturepacks, etc. Is free (mostly via external websites).

Windows 10 Edition runs faster than the Java version because it is not based on Java, so you have to tinplate for skins, sever, maps, texture packs etc. But you can then play together with XBOX players.

Because these are technically two different games, you can't play with different versions.

How to download texture packs, shaders, skins, maps to Java is a little more complicated than just clicking buy. But there are tutorials on YouTube for that.

Whether you'd still buy the Java version for 24 euro, I would make it dependent on whether: your daughter plays with friends who have the version and or whether she wants texture packs, etc. Because then it may be cheaper to buy the java version. (There's also a lot more skins etc available for Java than Windwos 10)

Ma

Great thank you. Customizing is just what the game is all about for my daughter. Roblox is e.g. Also one of her favorite games. Well, then I first know about the two versions. Now, of course, it is still interesting in terms of the almost 15 euro paid. Think that's the nonsense. Waiting for any response from Minecraft is too idle for me. Not because of 15 euro.

If one of her friends has an xbox, she could now also play along.
If you buy the Java version, take a look with it on how to insert texture packages and shaders, but download worlds and, above all, how to behave. So never give out the real name, never give out the phone number or address, never give out the password etc.

Becomes difficult. The support of the game companies is becoming more and more decoration. Steve is a skin (your appearance of the game character). There are thousands. I can only recommend the java edition because it is the (correct) minecraft. The accs are not 100% hack-proof, but a lot better than with win 10 edition. Since there are a lot of gaps there. Also more people play on the java edition. There are more players. Plus modifications from technick to magic. Also mas does not have to buy items or the like, since skins are freely selectable, etc. Only possibly the server owner wants money for objects, which does not exist for most of them, or are only cosmetic objects.

Java edition there you have all other new items known from minecraft. With the windows 10 edition, everything is the same as with the pocket edition on a mobile phone. So windows 10 is the same as minecraft for mobile phones only for pc. If you want to give your daughter more gaming experience, I would recommend the java edition. There are many videos on yt that explain the difference

@icubixx: Great, thank you! I think I know what to do. For the purpose of support from some providers: It will probably become more and more mesh… People have their money and that counts. Customer problems? Secondary (if any). LG, Tobi

Ya

No problem. Yes, there are only a few customer-friendly companies.
