I still don't get it. If I have a 75hz monitor and 200 fps in eg. Minecraft did it only display 60fps? So is it getting slower?

Gu

It doesn't get any slower but you only see MAXIMUM 75 FPS 200 FPS are there but can't be played back because the monitor simply can't do it

lu

Yep it is.

St

So is it getting slower? If I want to have 200fps I have to buy a 200hz monitor

Gu

It will NOT slow down you will only see 75 FPS and yes you have to if you want to enjoy a maximum of 200 FPS

Gu

You can overclock your monitor if you want

Pi

You have 200fps but your monitor will only play 75 rms effectively

St

How come

Gu

Do you have an Nvidia card?

St

So it stays as smooth as 200fps

St

Yes

Pi

No it is as fluid as 75fps but actually you still have 200 which will bring you a lot

Gu

Sn

No.

This is a very complex process, which I personally haven't fully understood.

The system generates and delivers 200 frames, but only at a rate of 75 frames per second. As a result, the next frame is already delivered while the previous one is still being shown. This results in fields and these cracks in the picture (tearing)

Advantage for frame rates higher than 75: The latency between the input of each frame and the display becomes lower the more FPS. I think that's called frametime. The fewer ms, the smoother.
